Must have excellent interpersonal skills to be proficient in dealing with business customers as well as fellow employees.
Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Must have working knowledge of computers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Combination PBX Technician is responsible for complete installation and repair of all key systems, PBX and PABX within the company's system.
Installs and maintains network wiring and special equipment, such as data sets, security systems, button and buzzers, and public address systems.
Cooperates with other departments when it is necessary to schedule a date and time to work a service order or repair a trouble.
Climbs poles and ladders to install or repair outside service lines.
Configures, maintains, and installs computer and networks for internet, DSL, wireless, high speed data and satellite high speed data.
Crawls under floors and in attics to install or repair inside wiring.
Splice fiber at customer ONT.
Make other inside fiber connections.
Install and maintain central office ground fields.
Works assigned Saturdays and holidays.
Once authorized by supervisor, technician will be required to take a one week (7-day) tour of stand-by call from time to time.
Performs other duties as assigned.
This job may require overtime and some irregular hours.
Must be willing to attend training courses and schools when necessary.
Also assist in working on special troubles as needed.

EDUCATION AND
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Appropriate system & equipment certifications as directed by supervisor.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
